Over the holiday weekend, I decided to relax and watch the first season of Iron Fist. What an awesome show!
In episode 6, one of the characters asked Danny, the Iron Fist, "Why are you so confident?" His response was so powerful that I keep thinking about it.
He said, "I have a vision of total victory and nothing else...defeat has no place in my mind. It isn't confidence. Doubt leads to death."
Danny was about to take on a challenge that he trained his whole life to accomplish. He believed that doubt was a weakness that could cost him his life. In his mind, there was no room for doubt -- only success.
Imagine if we took on that mindset and applied it to our lives.
1 Peter 2:9 says, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
God called you to walk with Him and provided you with a 66-volume blueprint, the Word of God, to achieve eternal salvation, grow closer to Him, and be successful on earth.
Just like the Iron Fist had his challenge, living according to God's will is our challenge. And it's only when we let doubt enter our minds that we begin to stumble.
Doubt is contagious. It leads to Worrying. Worrying then leads to fear. Fear then leads to death. Death to your soul, your dreams, and the fulfillment of God's will for your life.
Nothing good ever comes from doubt.
Things happen, though, and we can easily get distracted and begin to doubt God like Eve did in the Garden of Eden when Satan manipulated her. She got distracted by something that appeared to be good and then doubted God.
In return, sin and death entered the world.
Letting distractions blindside you from the truth can lead you down a difficult path that ultimately leads to failure.
If you want to win your battles and step into all that God has for you, learn to recognize doubt when it shows up. God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do.
"How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers." -Psalm 1:1-3
Just like the Iron fist meditated every day so that he could focus on achieving his task, God wants us to meditate too on His word.
You may not have a fist made of iron or a superpower, but you do have The Word of God which is the most powerful weapon there is. It will help you to get through tough times, win spiritual battles, and not deviate from your purpose.
When you're grounded in the Word, nothing can distract you from your mission. So get in the word and take on the mindset of total victory.
You were chosen with love, and God will always come through for you :).
