God is Able.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7

The last two weeks have been crazy in New York City. With coronavirus spreading around the world, and rapidly in our city, people are afraid.

I get it. These are very interesting and uncertain times. But in all of the uncertainty, one certain thing is God is able. As long as He’s in control, we don’t need to be afraid.

Practice social distancing, wash your hands, stock up on food and supplies, and trust God to do the impossible. He knows exactly what’s going on and has a perfect plan.

I was doing my morning devotions the other day, and I came across the passage in the Bible where Jesus walks on water to meet the disciples (Matthew 14:22-33). Peter was the only one with enough courage to get out of the boat and walk on the lake toward Jesus. But the moment he took his eyes off of him, he began to sink.

Peter feared what he saw around him and doubted Jesus. He feared what could happen instead of trusting the solution standing before him. But God, despite Peter’s doubt, rescued him when he cried out for help.

When you’re afraid, it’s a perfect opportunity to trust Jesus with your whole heart—he won't let you sink. He will walk with you when you have a little courage, and rescue you when you’re weak.

It’s okay to feel afraid, you're human, but don’t let what’s going on around you distract you from trusting God who can and will work miracles.

Let God take care of the things that are out of your control. Your job right now is to keep your eyes on Him and rest in His peaceI’m talking to me too.

God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we can ask or think. Let God be God, and use this season of “social distancing” to grow closer to Him.

You are covered by the blood of Jesus! Keep your eyes on Him, and you will be victorious.
