The Best is Yet to Come.

"So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us." - Hebrews 6:18

I remember this day like it was yesterday. It was a Sunday afternoon at church, and the SWOT team came to bring the message for the day.

The SWOT team is who we call two amazing ladies who are prayer warriors and ministers at their church. They have gone through "hell and back" in their lives, and because of what they’ve gone through, they have an admirable, unshakable faith in God.

When they pray, God moves.

At the end of the service that Sunday, they invited everyone who needed prayer to come up to the altar. I didn’t go, but as soon as they finished praying for everyone, one of the ladies called me out and asked if they could pray for me.

I said yes, and they began to pray.

While they were praying, one of the SWOT team members told me she had a message for me from God and told me to write it down.

And you better believe I did!

A lot of what she said to me was confirmation to my prayers, but there was one unusual thing that she said that stood out. She said that I would receive an inheritance.

An inheritance?

My family already received all of the money from my dad and grandpa who passed away a long time ago. And I already knew that my grandma has an inheritance for me in her current will, so why was God giving me this message?

When I left the church, I called my mom to tell her what happened. I asked her if my dad or grandpa might have left any money for me that I never received.

She told me no, so I left it alone.

A few months later, my mom called me and told me she was randomly on the New York State unclaimed funds website. She searched all of her children’s names to see if we left any “unclaimed” funds when we moved to Maryland.

My mom told me that when she searched my name, she recognized an address on the list of unclaimed funds.

My heart almost stopped before she finished her sentence, and chills ran through my body. At that moment, I instantly remembered what the SWOT team member told me about receiving an inheritance.

The address that my mom recognized was my paternal grandma’s. She passed away before my parents got married. I never met her, but I was named after her.

In my mom's search to see if I had unclaimed funds, she incidentally discovered that my deceased grandma did.

It was a two-year process for me to be able to claim that money, and I had to distribute it evenly to every living person directly in my grandma’s lineage—my cousins and siblings.

To me, the small portion that I would be left with wasn’t worth the amount of stress involved to get it, but I kept pressing on to the end because I knew God was trying to teach me something in the process.

Even though that money seemed like the “inheritance” that was promised to me, I was never fully convinced that it was. In my spirit, I sensed God saying, "The best is yet to come," and I knew

He wasn’t just talking about financial things.

I shared that very personal story with you today, the last day of 2019, to let you know that the best is yet to come for you too.

I don’t know what 2019 was like for you, but I believe that God is going to do miraculous things in your life in 2020 if you will trust Him and allow Him to.

Let’s not enter into a new year with regret in our hearts, envy, unforgiveness, fear, worry, and/or doubt. Let’s enter into 2020 with victory, increased faith in God, joy unspeakable that only comes from Him, and hope in the amazing things that are to come.

"So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us." - Hebrews 6:18

Every promise in the Word of God is your inheritance, claim it! And when you do, you’ll see God do amazing things in and through your life.

The best is yet to come, on earth and perfected in heaven. Happy New Year!
