Your Greatest Accomplishment.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” - Psalm 32:8

I used to think that our accomplishments were defined by the world around us, but now I know that’s false. Our accomplishments are defined by God.

As I was thinking about what to write about today, I started reflecting on my accomplishments over the last 8.5 years. I’ve done so many things that I’m proud of, but I haven’t accomplished any of my major goals yet.

As soon as that thought came to my mind, another more powerful thought kicked that one out of the door. My greatest accomplishment is that I’ve fully committed my life to God.

That thought was as clear as day, and I knew God was speaking to me at that moment.

I called my grandma right away because I knew that if she didn’t constantly “put me in my place,” I might still be lost. I just wanted to say thank you.

A few years ago, I was in a very dark place. I was obsessed with self-help books and motivational audios. I spent all of my free time suffocating myself with “self-helpy things.”

After a while, I became my own god and didn’t even realize it—nothing was out of my control if I maintained a positive mindset.

One day, Chase bank called my grandma and left a voicemail saying to call them as soon as possible. My grandma started freaking out because she thought someone made an unauthorized purchase on her card.

“Grandma, you have to think positively,” I said. “You don’t even know why they just called you yet.”

I think she just about had it with all my positive thinking because what she said next changed my life.

“What!!!" she said. "Maggie, positive thinking won’t change whether someone stole my card or not.”

She was right. Positive thinking can’t change a situation, but it can change how we respond to it.

Her simple words made me realize that I was lost—I went too far with positive thinking. I also realized that I no longer heard God’s voice, only my own.

And from that day forward, I decided to fully commit my life back to God. I immediately joined a Bible study, and life hasn’t been the same.

God used my grandma to bring me back to Him, and I’m forever thankful for that.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” - Psalm 32:8

My greatest accomplishment is committing my life to God because He's been able to use me to impact lives around me. And life is so much more fulfilling with Him.

I can do all the things I set my mind to, but not without God. I need His help, and so do you.

He instructs us. He comforts us. He counsels us. He provides for us. He heals us.

He is our strength in times of weakness. Our hope when things seem hopeless. He is whoever and whatever we need Him to be because He loves us and wants the best for us.

It’s so easy to get lost in comparing your worldly accomplishments to others, but true success is defined by God.

You want to be successful? Make an impact on the people around you by sharing the love of Jesus with them. Don’t just pray for the needs of others, help them if you can. And be a light everywhere you go.

Your greatest accomplishment comes from doing the work of God. When you're obedient to His calling on your life, you'll see lives being changed and there's nothing greater than that.

God is the ultimate judge, not the world. Do love.
