Visualize this thing that you want, see it, feel it, believe in it. Make your mental blue print, and begin to build.
- Robert Collier
I often think people have a misguided understanding of vision boards. I'm not sure who started the myth that vision boards have magical powers, but they don't.
Don’t get me wrong, I love vision boards (I have two on my wall), but the real power of vision boards is in us. The "magic" is the action we take to create the results that we want to see in life.
Visualization works when you also work—tweet that!
Did you know that Olympic athletes and high-performers all over the world have been using visualization for years to increase their performance and results? They combine visualization with working hard and an extreme amount of focus to achieve their goals.
Make A New Year Resolution, NOT A Wish-list
According to Webster’s dictionary, a resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something.
In the beginning of the year, many people make “wish-lists” of all the things they want to give up instead of creating a resolution that inspires and excites them to move forward.
For someone who eats a lot of fried food, going cold turkey and giving up fried food may sound like a great goal, but it won't bring lasting change—that goal can also be quite overwhelming.
A more compelling goal for someone who eats a lot of fried food is to eat healthier because a healthy diet will prevent future diseases and sickness, give your body the nutrients it needs to function successfully, and allow you to be more energetic and alert during the day.
We should always create a vision or goal based on something we desire so much that the vision alone will fill us with anticipation to get the day started. It's not too late to create or revamp yours.
Vision boards, new year resolutions, and all that good stuff cannot work alone. You must be the thing that brings them to life. Grind like a coffee bean in 2017—yes, that rhymes. I’ll see you at the top!
Challenge: Create an irresistible vision for 2017.
Write down and/or make a vision board of everything you want to achieve this year. Then, take massive action toward your vision. Remember to always think big but start with one step at a time.
Happy new year and cheers to an awesome 2017!
