Always Give Thanks.

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever."

- 1 Chronicles 16:34

I used to think "count your blessings" was an overused saying, but now I see the difference that it makes when you thank God every day for all that He's done, is doing and will do.

Thanksgiving is the time of year when many people think about all the things they're thankful for. But if I'm honest, I've had many not-so-thankful moments over the last few days.

When you're in a dry or waiting season, it can be hard to focus on the things that are going well in your life instead of on what’s going wrong. But thank God that we have His Word to encourage us through our stinky feelings!

1 Thessalonian 5:18 tells us to give thanks in all circumstances. Did you catch that? All circumstances — the good ones and the challenging ones.

Even when you don't "feel" very thankful, with God, it’s possible to give thanks anyway.

When you're having trouble at your job, thank God that you have one. When you have no job, thank God for His promise to provide for all your needs. When you're single, thank God for the time to work on yourself and develop the characteristics you want in a future mate.

Instead of looking at your life from your perspective, ask God to help you to look at it from His perspective.

If we change our perspective from focusing on what we are lacking to seeing what God has done (and is doing) in and through our lives, we'll see that there's so very much to be thankful for.

Take a few moments today to make a list of 10 things you're thankful for. I'll share mine with you.

1. I'm thankful for God and how He saved me from a very dark place.

2. I'm thankful for my family. They can be crazy at times (myself included), but I love my imperfectly, perfect family.

3. I'm thankful for my creative mind and how God is using the ideas He's given me to be a blessing to those around me

4. I'm thankful for you, my readers. When I feel like giving up, you tell me how much my messages are making a difference in your life.

5. I'm thankful for purpose and a new identity in Christ.

6. I'm thankful for great friends.

7. I'm thankful for being able to pay my bills on time (Hallelujah! 🙌).

8. I'm thankful for this waiting season because it's teaching me to trust in God more every

9. I'm thankful for God not always giving me what I want but always providing me with what I need. He ALWAYS knows what's best for us even when things don't make sense at first.

10. I'm thankful for another day of life and an opportunity to be a blessing to someone in need.

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever."

- 1 Chronicles 16:34

Today's message is simple: always give thanks — there's always something you can be grateful for.

You may not be where you want to be yet but thank God that He's using this time to mold you into who He created you to be. Masterpieces take time to be built, and you are God's masterpiece.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
