Blow Out Your Candles.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,

according to his power that is at work within us.” – Ephesians 3:20

I used to always live by this quote, "Winners never quit, and quitters never win." But now I know that sometimes we must to quit in order to win.

At the end of 2016, something very strange happened to me—something I never thought would happen. I began to lose the passion for the company that I lived for, breathed for, and dreamed of starting since I was a kid.

I literally moved to New York City with one goal in mind: to start my own men’s fashion company. I confidently told everyone I knew that "I was going to be someone!"

And since fashion was my everything at the time, I was going to use it to do something great with my life. So, to lose the passion for the very thing that I convinced the world to support was a huge disapppointment.

I felt like a failure. The fire that I once had was burning out, and there was nothing I could do about it.

So, what do you do? You trust God.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

- Proverbs 3:5

While my passion for fashion was burning out, God was inputting new desires inside of me. And I had a decision to make.

I could either fight to keep the fire burning or let God blow out the candles on my dreams to do a new thing.

I chose the latter.

You see, my passion had to die for me to see what was truly important. And I knew that my relationship with Christ was what I should be fighting for.

Experiencing a loss of passion for things you once loved isn't a bad thing when you’re following God. It means that He's exchanging your desires with His desires.

It means that you're growing.

The benefits of following God and letting Him input His desires in you are far greater than the benefits of you pursuing your dreams, ideas, and plans on your own.

"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible,

but with God all things are possible.'" - Matthew 19:26

When God does it, He helps you. When you do it, well, you're on your own.

Don’t trust your feelings of inadequacy that lead to forceful (and worldly) pursuits, trust God.

You’re not a failure, you’re a champion in the eyes of our beloved Savior. And despite popular belief, sometimes quitting is necessary to step into the things that are far beyond what you could've ever imagined.

Blow out your candles. God is preparing you for something even greater than what you could've planned for yourself.
