God Hasn't Forgotten You.

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

– Psalm 55:22

I used to think that being obedient to God was just for my benefit. Now I know that it’s not about me, it’s about all of those who will be affected by His light that shines through me.

One Saturday morning, I was in an ugly mood. And I mean ugly. I just wanted to be by myself and wallow in my ugly feelings.

But then the doorbell rang.

A pastor and his wife from Connecticut who hadn’t seen my grandma in a while stopped by to give her a surprise visit. I greeted them at the door and then went into the kitchen to eat breakfast by myself.

A few moments later, I overheard my grandma tell them to go into the kitchen so we can all eat breakfast together. Great, just great.

"If I eat quickly, I can go upstairs and avoid any possible conversation," I thought to myself.

Well, I wasn't eating fast enough because in walked the pastor and his wife.

They sat at the table with me and began to make small talk. I responded to all their questions politely, but I wasn’t in the mood for chatting.

“Sorry guys, I’m normally not in such a stinky mood, but I’ve been going through a tough time,” I told them.

My words made the pastor’s wife’s face light up and she began to speak life into me. It was almost like the dead rose over my heart instantly started to bloom again.

I was encouraged.

When they left, I went to talk to my grandma.

She mentioned to me that the couple told her they came because God placed her on their hearts.

But the interesting thing is that they thought they were coming to visit her, but they believe that their visit was to encourage me.

I was shocked.

“Were you encouraged?” she said.

I was,” I responded. But why did God send them for me? Why would He even care about my stinky mood?

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

– Psalm 55:22

There have been many times in my life when I felt like God forgot about me. I was frustrated, discouraged, and didn’t know where to turn. But every time I can remember, God sent someone to give me a word of encouragement—right on time.

I don’t know if you’re in that place right now or not but let me encourage you by saying that God hasn’t forgotten about you. He hears your prayers and knows the desires of your heart.

And He knows exactly how and when to reach you—right on time.

Whether you’re currently in a good place or a not-so-good place in your life, trust God and remain obedient. There’s someone who needs your obedience to be encouraged to move forward.

We get so caught up in our "feelings" that we forget to consider that God might be trying to use us (even in our tough times) to be a light to someone else.

As Christians, we are always to live for the benefit of others. You never know what someone may be going through, and more often than not, your testimony can be exactly what he/she needs.

It’s not just about you. It’s about those who will be affected by God’s light within you...at all times.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

God hasn’t forgotten about you. Keep shining your light and He will come through exactly on time.
