God is Faithful.

“If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.”

- 1 John 3:20 (NIV)

I remember being faced with a tough situation five years ago. I was on my way to one of the factories that I used to use to make custom blazers for my clients. At the time, I was still building my men’s fashion company.

After spending months working on a project, it was finally done. I was excited to pick up the blazers and hand them off to my client.

When I got to the factory and asked for the blazers, the owner wouldn’t give them to me. He and I became good friends over the years, so he joked around for a bit but then said something that caught me off guard.

He told me that someone showed him a blog post that I wrote about him, and he didn’t like it. This hurt me to the core because I’m careful about the stories I choose to write about. I did use a story about him in a blog post (changing around a few details and excluding his name), but the message was a good one.

Our arrangement for the project was that I would pay him when my client paid me the balance of his invoice. I worked with him for years, spent hours helping him improve his business for free, and never failed to pay him for the work he did for me.

The factory owner and I had a great relationship, but that day changed everything. I cared about him and never meant to offend him. He knew me—the real me—but he was persuaded that he could no longer trust me.

I paid him what I owed and left that day with a broken heart.

“If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.”

- 1 John 3:20

I felt guilty that day, but God knew my heart was in the right place.

When you’re faced with difficult situations in your life, trust that God will always work things out for good for those who love him and are called according to His purpose.

Sometimes you have to let go of relationships because your previous ones don’t fit into the picture of where God is taking you. It can be hard and painful, but God is greater than our hearts and knows what’s best for us. The greatest sacrifices often yield the greatest reward.

God is faithful and will always supply you with what you need when you need it. Continue to trust Him to work all the tough situations out in your life. He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider.
