Just Wait and See.

"I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me."

- Psalm 16:8 (NLT)

I’ll never forget this Christmas morning. My siblings and I rushed downstairs to open our presents under the tree.

My parents always did their best to buy my siblings and me the top things that we wanted on our Christmas lists. I don’t know what was different about this Christmas, but there was something that I wanted that I didn’t get.

I know how spoiled that sounds because many kids don’t get anything for Christmas, but I was young and didn’t understand that.

I don’t know if it was a toy or an electronic device that I didn’t get. All I remember is that what I wanted wasn’t under the tree, and that made me sad.

After everyone finished opening up their gifts, I silently snuck away to my room and started to cry. My mom’s heart was broken because she bought me these beautiful 14 kt gold earrings that were more valuable than the toy that I probably would’ve only played with for a couple of weeks.

She gave me something better than what I could’ve asked for, but at the time, I couldn’t see past my current desire.

I was thinking about that situation this week and I realized how relevant it is to our lives today. God often doesn’t give us what we want because He has something better in store for us.

Sometimes our faith is shaken when we don’t get what we want because we’ve placed our trust in God only being good when we get our way instead of Him being good, period.

God is good when we get what we want and He’s still good when we don’t. He may not always give us what we want but He does promise to always provide for our needs.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:19

You may not always see the value in what God is doing at the moment, but trust that He always has your best interest in mind. You may be praying for silver, and He desires to give you gold.

Be encouraged. No matter what you may be going through, God is always with you. Just wait and see the great things that He has in store for you.
