Let Go and Experience Peace.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because

he trusts in You.” - Isaiah 26:3

Many years ago, I found myself in a scary place—I became my own god. I tried to make things happen without God, but that only caused more stress in my life.

Only God can work miracles. Only God can be God.

My grandma once told me that when my mom was a little girl, they were about to lose their house. Grandma couldn’t afford the mortgage payment on a single salary, and she didn't want to tell anyone about the problem.

So instead of stressing about it, she gave the situation to God.

One Sunday morning, a lady at church gave my mom an envelope. She told her to put it in her purse and give it to my grandma when they got home.

Like any good little girl, my mom forgot about it when they got home.

But before bed, my mom remembered the envelope and gave it to my grandma. My grandma opened it and started yelling hysterically at my mom.

“Who gave you this envelope?”

“I can’t tell you," my mom responded. "The lady told me not to tell you where it came from."

“If you don’t tell me who gave you this envelope right now, I will whoop your behind!”

“Fine.” My mom gave in and told her.

In that envelope was a check for the exact amount of their mortgage payment. My grandma may not have told anyone about the problem, but God knew and provided for them.

And they were able to save their house.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because

he trusts in You.” - Isaiah 26:3

I don’t know about you, but there have been many times when I lost sleep because I was stressing about a situation that was out of my control. I would pray for peace and cry out to God, but I still couldn’t sleep.

This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago. All night long I prayed and asked God to give me rest, but my mind just wouldn’t settle.

It wasn’t until a few days later that God revealed to me something so simple, yet profound. What

He revealed to me was this: you can’t ask for peace, refuse to let go of your situation, and expect to receive it.

Peace comes from surrendering to God. So I let go.

I let go of trying to understand what God is doing in my life.

I let go of trying to make sense of the situation.

I let go of everything that was making me anxious. And ever since, I’ve been sleeping like a bulldog.

Every time that I've truly embodied what it means to let go of control and let God have His way in my life, I’ve experienced joy when I should've probably been sad.

Letting go of control will not only reduce unnecessary stress, but it will also allow you to have a much (MUCH) calmer spirit and peace of mind.

Give your problems to God, and play your part in letting go. Maybe that means opening up to others about your fears and struggles or just embracing the unknown.

Whatever letting go means to you, do it. And watch how easy it becomes to experience God’s peace knowing that He has your best interest in mind.

Let go and experience peace.
