"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." - 1 Peter 2:9
I used to think that having doubts was harmless, and it might be at times, but now I know that success requires us to let go of our doubts.
I remember watching the first season of Iron Fist a few years ago. In episode 6, one of the characters asked Danny, the Iron Fist, "Why are you so confident?" His response was so powerful that I still remember it today.
He said, "I have a vision of total victory and nothing else. Defeat has no place in my mind. It isn't confidence—doubt leads to death."
Danny was about to take on a challenge that he trained his entire life to accomplish. He believed that doubt was a weakness that could cost him his life. In his mind, there was no room for doubt, only success.
Imagine if we took on that same mindset to conquer our everyday challenges. Imagine if we said, "Defeat has no place in my mind!" and affirmed the Word of God over our lives.
1 Peter 2:9 says, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
You were chosen by God. He called you out of darkness to walk with Him. Notice how I said with Him. You don't have to do this thing called life on your own.
Just like the Iron Fist had his challenge, living according to God's will and trusting Him daily is our challenge. And it's only when we let doubt enter our minds that we begin to stumble.
"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind." - James 1:6
Doubt is a contagious monkey. It leads to worrying. Worrying then leads to fear. Fear then leads to death—to your soul, your dreams, and the fulfillment of God's will for your life.
Nothing good ever comes from doubt.
Things happen though, and we can easily get distracted and begin to doubt God and the abilities that He’s given us. If you want to win your battles and step into all that God has for you, learn to recognize doubt when it shows up.
God understands that doubt may come at times, but He is greater than your doubts. With Him, you can defeat the lies of the enemy that tell you that you can't do something.
"How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers." - Psalm 1:1-3
Just like the Iron fist meditated every day so that he could focus on achieving his task, God wants us to meditate too—on His word.
You may not have a fist made of iron or a superpower, but you do have the Word of God which is the most powerful weapon there is. It will help you to get through tough times, win spiritual battles, and not deviate from your purpose.
When you're grounded in the Word, nothing can deter you from your mission. So get in the word and take on the mindset of total victory.
You were chosen with love. Let go of doubt, trust God, and do all the great things that He created you to do.
