The Greatest Gift Ever.

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." - 1 John 4:7-8

I'll never forget my senior year of college.

I often talk about how I fundraised my way to studying abroad in London, but very few people know how I truly got there.

All I cared about during my senior year of college was how to make my dream become reality. My dream, at that time, was to become a successful fashion designer.

I thought studying in another country would set me apart from other candidates entering the fashion industry, so I had to make it happen even if it drained the resources of my family.

I created a "High Five for $5" campaign and raised half of the money for my tuition. Time was running out, though, and half of the money wouldn't get me to London. I needed another $5,000 and I needed it quickly.

My grandma cosigned two loans for me in the past—one freshman year and another sophomore year of college. I knew she could do it again.

With the end goal in mind, I did what any desperate 20-year-old girl who wanted to make her dreams come true would do, I asked grandma to co-sign another loan for me.

And to my surprise, she said no.

My grandma was the only option I had left, and I was furious that she said no. Doesn't anyone care about my future? I was working two jobs and going to school full-time while maintaining over a 3.6 GPA.

"The least my family could do is get me to London." I thought to myself. Despite my anger, I humbled myself and called my grandma a second time.

After pleading with her for over an hour and making promises that I thought I would be able to fulfill, I convinced her to co-sign the loan for me.

That's how I made it to London.

The greatest gift in the world is love. My grandma didn't have to co-sign three loans for me, but she did as an act of love.

Love isn't just an emotion; it's an action and behavior. Love is unconditional acceptance and support. Love is working together to improve the happiness and well-being of those around us.

At the end of the first chapter of Mark, Jesus healed a man with Leprosy and gave him a warning not to tell anyone. Well, it's hard to keep your mouth shut when God performs a miracle in your life, so the man told everyone.

And as a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly. Mark 1:45 says that Jesus had to stay outside in lonely places.

Jesus knew that the man with leprosy would cause him to retreat to "lonely places," but he still healed him because of love.

Jesus knew that Peter would deny him three times, but he still entrusted him with building his church because of love.

Jesus knew that Judas would betray him, but he still allowed him to do it because of the bigger picture of his love for us.

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." - 1 John 4:7-8

The greatest gift we can give anyone is love because that's the greatest gift that was given to us by God.
