Your Life Matters.

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” - Ephesians 1:11-12 (MSG)

Last Wednesday, May 27th, was a good day.

I woke up early to prepare for a quick photoshoot outside of my house. It was a warm sunny day, and I was in a great mood.

Things were going according to plan.

After the shoot, I edited a few photos and then posted them on social media to see which ones people liked the most. And that’s when I saw it.

On May 25th, George Floyd, an African American father, son, and brother, was unjustly killed by the police. The video of what happened went viral, and everyone was talking about it.

My good day suddenly turned upside down. A black man was killed by the police...again.

Tears filled my eyes, and I found myself crying out to God. Why Lord does this keep happening?

Words cannot express the hurt and pain that I feel for the families of those who’ve lost loved ones to police brutality. And if I’m honest, I’m angry too.

Black lives matter.

I don’t understand what goes through the minds of people who abuse their authority or treat others like their lives don’t matter. Our lives do matter.

Your life matters no matter what race you are.

I know that you’ve probably had a “why Lord” moment in your life too. Maybe a few of those moments.

We may not always understand why God allows bad things to happen, but He did promise us that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord.

It can be difficult to think positively in adverse times, but good things can come from bad situations. If God allowed it, then He has a plan for it.

Cry if you need to. Vent if you need to. And after you’ve given yourself a moment to process the things that often cannot be explained, with the help of God, pick your head up.

There’s still work to be done! 💪.

You can make strides toward change and justice in America by voting, donating, and supporting local protests. You can also research the platforms of local politicians to find out where they stand on policy reform for eradicating police violence.

You have a voice, use it.

Share your opinion with local politicians and bring awareness to issues that matter to you. These are just a few of the many things that you can do.

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” - Ephesians 1:11-12 (MSG)

God has a plan for every person. Your life matters as much as your neighbor's life does.

Even during times when the news is highlighting human rights issues that have the entire nation in uproar, remember that God cares about your personal needs too. Nothing can cause Him to forget about you because you matter to God.

Keep your head up, and with God, you will overcome all things.
